While dining at a local restaurant, two rival chefs get into it in front of the PCs and a duel is challenged!
Thomas and David are rival chefs at competing restaurants. Though they share a common and once friendly history, they now hate each other with a passion, after Thomas ruined David's signature dessert (or David ruined Thomas' special stew - both accuse each other equally). The two nearly come to blows, over the PCs table, screaming at each other and waving sharp knives in the air.
It ends with the two knives buried deep in the table and the two former friends calling for a duel, then turning and demanding that two of the PCs act as their seconds. Each offers their second a sizeable (but unnamed) reward for their assistance!
The two (and their seconds) meet at dawn and choose weapons (of the culinary variety). The GM could set up the PCs to lugging a bunch of useless weapons to the fight, simply by having the chefs tell them the evening before that they'll need to bring all the necessaries for the duel.
To the PCs surprise, the duel consists of cooking, with the PCs helping! And to the amusement of the townsfolk, who turn out in droves to see this throw-down. Of course, during the duel, each chef will cheat to spoil their rival's food, to (hopefully) humorous results.
Anyone who actually looks into these two lunatics backgrounds will find out that they both worked for the same person, Chef Andre, who, when asked about them, casually lets slip that if they worked together, they'd put him out of business. So that's why he sabotaged their relationship. How the PCs reveal this info is up to them.
